Re: Pyro A/V Link API-557 driver W7

From what I understand Windows 7 introduced a new IEEE1394 driver... you need to load the legacy driver. I have read several reports of ADVC convertors and camcorders having problems. See this link:

Re: Can a Hi-End S-VHS Player Help Standard VHS Tapes?

Yes there are a lot of opinions on capturing from tape for editing and archiving. For example the link below to "Guide to Understanding Video Sources, Part 2 - Capturing Videotapes".. in here it discusses colour space 4:4:4, 4:2:2 etc and they state for analog-to-digital conversion DV-AVI ...

Re: Can a Hi-End S-VHS Player Help Standard VHS Tapes?

I went through the same reasoning as yourself and splashed out on the JVC S-VHS player with TBC and Digipure. Like you my tapes were standard VHS tapes. In the end I decided it all comes down to the quality of the original tapes and your current VHS player. My tapes were very old and fairly poor qua...

Re: Query on High Quality Video

Where try to write AVCHD format to a Blu-ray disc? Why not Blu-ray format to a Blu-ray disc? AVCHD discs are great for short projects written to a standard DVD. If you are using Blu-ray discs why not burn a standard Blu-ray disc?

Re: Panasonic HC-V700MK

Some camcorders support "touch" focus. That is you touch the object on the LCD screen that you want in focus and the camera focuses on that.

Re: PE 11 for Capture, or Separate Software

As it is a digital transfer quality should be the same between capture software. That said I use WinDV for capture as you can set capture parameters such as file size and thus split a large video between multiple DVDs for archiving. I used to use DVDs anyway... now with cheap hard drives I archive t...

Re: Hi, from Paz

Welcome Paz, nice to read your story. I agree your idea's for children's stories sound a lot nicer than serial killers... reality today is pretty nasty, best to keep our kids away from it as long as possible, they grow up fast enough as it is. Sounds like you are surrounded by a real menagerie of an...

Re: Thinking of Bob

My daughter lives in NY city. We skyped her yesterday to make sure she "hunkers" down and keeps her head down. She said all public transport will be shut down Monday and she doesn't know how she is going to get to work. We said to forget going to work... I think a lot of NY city dwellers w...

Re: Analogue to Digital Converter Help

The only point that surprises me is with respect to the digital format to maintain quality. From my still-limited reading, I was under the impression that I should absolutely avoid MPEG and convert the analog to AVI ... yes, MPEG is a delivery format, when you have converted your VHS tapes to DV-AV...
