so how big is big.....6K

Just when you thought you might get a handle on 4k along comes 6K (show-off) Apple released a new video codec into the filmmaking post production world. It’s called ProRes 4444 XQ and it’s a mother-scratching beast. At 4K (4096 x 2160) it registers 1697 Mbps which equals 764 GB/hour of 4K video foot...

Re: LED light recomendation

I do not have one but I have been looking at the Light Panels:

The following DIY video could be modified to make a smaller version.

Re: An 8 year old should be able to do this...

I use the free Pandora and it is really good. The "commercials" are very similar to the way NPR plays commercials so to me it is very tolerable. Especially when it is a free app. BTW I am 9 years old and I am guessing that I could have done this back in the day when I was only 8.... :hyst:...

Re: Question about commuting

As the decision is yours... my view from the peanut gallery... I would make the following analogies. A pair of shoes and the time value of money. It might be more practical in the long rung to get a good commuter car. I think that the Accord is an excellent choice. When maintained properly I think t...

Re: Blender

People do some really stupid stuff in the name of entertainment that gets posted on the Internet.

It is too bad they did not call it an instructional video and highlight the dangers of putting your fingers in the path of the spinning propellers. :conf:

Re: Go Pro Beginner Question

Chuck if cost is not an issue The GoPro 4 black it the best bet for any GoPro I think in terms of performance and cost the Hero 3+ Black or Silver are your best bet. The hero 3 and the 3+ are using the same processing chip but the 3 skews a bit warm for color (yellowish). One thing to be aware of is...

Re: Mic and audio preamp question

One of the differences is that XLR is low impedance and used for long cable runs. 1/4 or 1/8 are high impendence and used for shorter runs. A pre-amplifier takes the very weak signals from a microphone (for example) and boosts it to line-level. A power amplifier generally takes line-level signals an...

Carol of the Bells

What a cool rendering of this song. It kind of sounds like the band Chicago 25 "What's it Gonna Be Santa" One of my all time list of cool things to do is to collaborate remotely with someone to create art. While a bit smaller in scope and scale I did get a chance to do that this summer wit...
