Most of those sites leave me cold. Just pile on the junk and fill up the website. I certainly don't want to see

"Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter"!

But thanks anyhow.

Old SciFi - Rocky Jones, Captain Video, etc.

There was some talk of SciFi in the Death of Firewire thread, but perhaps this is a better place. I just bought six DVDs with all the available episodes of Rocky Jones, Space Ranger - back from 1954. What a hoot! Terribly corny plots, meager special effects, lots of repetition (i.e. how many times d...

You need to have Firewire. PREl2 (or 3) does not support USB transfer.

You should be able to get a Firewire add-in card, or upgrade your sound card to a model that includes a Firewire port.

or not, given the history of the SciFi channel - either the brainless monster of the week or the usual social patter in a futuristic setting - both junk in my view.

Lisa, I agree that you want an HD camcorder if your TV is HD capable. The problem is that you will just be playing the HD using the direct connection (hopefully HDMI) from the camcorder to the TV. When you edit the video, you will have no way to output to an HD DVD. You may be an early HD DVD drive ...

My setup: 1) 2GB of RAM - NO paging file - this has NEVER been a problem with 2GB of RAM for me, even running many open programs at the same time. I usually run PE3, ThumbsPlus, Audacity, Word, and Windows Explorer in my standard editing setup. 2) Capture Video, Capture Audio, Media Cache all in the...

The critical thing in any multi-stage job such as NLE editing is to ping-pong your data. That means the input to one process should be on a different drive as the output. This keeps the head movement to a minimum and head movement is the slowest factor affecting system performance. Adding to that is...

camcorderinfo cites the HV20 on having a plastic feel and not seeming as well constructed as the Sony. I have picked up the unit many times at the local store, but each time I put it down again. It really does feel cheap. If it felt better, I would have bought it. Surely an inaccurate and superficia...

Thanks, Ron - I guess I could always do that. Is there a size restriction?

I went onto the Adobe website, and found a page on creating a pop-up player using various techniques. I have to admit admit that I put off learning javascript and perhaps now is the time to do so.

OK - I can generate a .FLV file, but what do I do with it? Just putting it on my website doesn't trigger a program to display it. I am pretty sure I have the flash plugin running, so there must be something else I have to do.

I have no direct experience, but after going through all the hassle with DVD+R and -R compatibility, I don't need any more aggravation. The last time I did a 2 hour project, I did put it on two single layer DVDs, and just got a nice 2-DVD case to hold the result.

Export For Proofreading

Hi all - hope you all are having a nice 4th. Anyhow, I am working on a family history project that I want various family members to be able to view on my website for proofing purposes. I would think exporting a downloadable MOV or WMV file would be good, or is there a better streaming method? Also, ...
