what's the point of having a medium that lasts 300 years if there won't be anything that can read it in 300 years? I agree. My own guess (strong emphasis on GUESS) is that optical media (DVDS, BluRay, HD-DVD) will eventually be replaced by cheap, non-rotational (so mechanically, more simple) solid ...

Something else from the same website. I like this one!! An unemployed man was offered a job with Microsoft as a cleaner. He was asked for his email address, but had to explain that he had neither a computer nor an email address. He was told that as email is the way Microsoft communicates with its st...

Hello Bill. Nice effect. Also brought back memories for me - I stayed in Portloe a few years ago. Very pretty part of the world. Knowing what awful weather we have had this summer I would have been tempted to find a 'heavy rain fall' sound effect and placed it as a background to your 'Here Comes Sum...

For information/interest the UK minimum upgrade price (without taxes) is UK£209 - about US$400. The upgrade price on the Adobe UK site for a PrEl user is £539 (again without taxes) - about US$1050. Strange how exactly the same item gets more expensive as it travels across the Atlantic. Must be som...

I have the Neat Video plug-in. I find it especially useful for de-noising any low light recordings taken with my CMOS based HVR-A1. I haven't experienced that particular issue yet but if I do now I know how to overcome it! :-D

Here's a free utility called 'Enditall' that I use to stop all unnecessary tasks when I want to use PrEl. I also disable my network.

As Jack says, don't forget to re-enable your security software and internet links when you are done.

New 'Pro' Camera from Sony

Thinking about buying a 'pro' featured HD camera? Only things I can see need clarifying are the standard low light capability (i.e. when not in 'super night mode') and whether it has XLR inputs. Looks good for the price though(?) http://news.sel.sony.com/en/press_room/b2b/broadcast_production/releas...

Believe me guys, this is a posting from Mrs Twosheds:- Once upon a time a man built a new, ultra fast PC for his cherished wife. 'Twas an act of love indeed. Upon completion of the build the man felt honour bound to undertake tests to ensure that the said machine was working properly. The man duly i...
