Rules of thumb

With standard DV editing, we've found that about 60-70 minutes of video fits on a standard, single-sided DVD before the program must degrade quality to fit. Is there an equivalent rule of thumb for HDV and BluRay? How much HDV footage can you fit onto a BluRay disk and still maintain the highest qua...

Re: muvipix Music Clips

Since you have your soundtrack on a parallel track, Ted, you have no true gap to close. I'd recommend you temporarily trim back your audio track so that you can delete and close gap, then you can re-extend your audio. (Needless to say, you have to be in timeline view to do this. It's pretty much imp...

Re: Magix Movie Edit Pro 14 Plus

In your opinion, Robert, is Magix the best value out there?

Are there advantages over other programs (such as Premiere Elements)? Does Premiere Elements offer advantages over it?

Your insight is very much appreciated.

Re: At the Atlanta Airport

Well, Chuck stopped long enough to have dinner and spend the evening with Mrs. G and I -- and he also delivered a wonderful gift from our forum's very own Cinde! Solely as a show of appreciation for Muvipix, she sent Chuck, Ron and I a beautiful set of custom key fobs, hand-carved by her son-in-law....

Re: Odd AVI's

Naturally, it would help if you told us which files you downloaded, redchair. ;) But I'm guessing that maybe you're talking about the some of the transportation stock footage we offer for free. Many of the clips we give away are from older sources and use other than DV codecs. I believe the ones you...

Re: Football DVD Template

Have you restarted the program since you created the new template? It also helps if you apply a new template to your project temporarily, just to clear the old one. Well, you can certainly save yourself some trouble if you just use the template as is and swap out the background in Premiere Elements ...

Re: "Writer not found" error when exporting to WMV

This has been happening to some people. It could be an outdated driver or a need for a Windows update (depending on which operating system you're using) or even, strangely enough, a need to update Quicktime. (Outdated Quicktime can do lots of strange things to this program.) Can you make it happen b...

Re: At the Atlanta Airport

A day or two in the fridge is often better for the flavor than an hour or two simmering on the stove.

Re: Football DVD Template

Well, Nan, I'd have to know what you did when you edited it to know for sure what might be at issue here. Did you add any elements? Change the names or locations of layers or layer sets? That sort of thing. And you did ensure that you have both a main menu (mm) and a scene menu (sm) template in the ...
