In the past, I have used Neat Video for Premiere, http://www.neatvideo.com/, to remove grain and noise. It's not cheap. The pro version is US $99.00. This requires practice and study in order to use it effectively. It's easy to overdo it and lose the detail. I've found that Neat Video works especially well for black and white.

Smart Tags happen automatically if you've got the Auto Analyzer/Media Analyzer turned on in Organizer's Preferences (under the Edit menu). They don't do anything at all to your photos or video files. It's merely reference metadata. You can turn off the preference and the program won't do it any more. But I don't know how to get rid of them other them recreating your entire Organizer catalog and keeping the Analyzer turned off. Much easier to just ignore them.

That is the only option offered to deal with the clean up, you are not able to hide the project in that case. I have never used this option and I'm not ...

I definitely agree with Steve regarding V11 vs V8. One thing that Steve didn't mention was that in addition to being a much better performer, V11 has a new interface. If your system specs will support it, I'd suggest considering it instead. Since you haven't spent time learning any version yet, you might as well learn the program with its newest look and feel. I think it's going to be very popular.
